Futuristic Discovery Treehouse

Inspiration on Environment

Dallol is a unique, terrestrial hydrothermal system around a cinder cone volcano in the Danakil Depression, northeast of the Erta Ale Range in Ethiopia. It is known for its unearthly colours and mineral patterns, and the very acidic fluids that discharge from its hydrothermal springs.

Why is Dallol Ethiopia toxic? Dallol craters are dangerous places to visit because their surface can be covered by a crust of salt with pools of hot acidic water just inches below. Toxic gases are sometimes released from craters.

I took inspiration from Dallol because of its unique shapes, unearthly neon colours and patterns it formed really cool looking craters on the earth, this makes the environment look toxic and unhabitable.

Inspiration on Architecture

These are some examples of where I got the inspiration for my house. I love the aspect of clean high detailed buildings with lights showing people living there, and indentations on the building’s surfaces make the structures captivating.

Refinements on House

I made refinements on what the house would look like, little details to make the treehouse more believable and unique. I wanted the house to have a modern look, hence I researched modern architecture and I also really like the retro-futurism kind of look, therefore there is some kind of influence on my design.

Line Art

Having a line art to clearly show the ideas and details I have on my treehouse so that the viewer can see the finer intricacies of the model including the windows, vents, lifts, and doors.

Creating a value art for my treehouse made me think about what was around my treehouse, where the light source was, and how would I position my treehouse on a bigger scale. Using the theory of composition, rule of thirds, triangle, the golden ratio etc. I have created a few value art on my treehouse.

Coloured Art

Coloured artwork clearly displays the mood, light, depth, and point of view for my treehouse environment. I wanted neon colours to be part of my environment to bring out the futuristic theme, it also helps show the land is toxic. The mood is kind of lonely as the treehouse is far away and distant from other structures and other civilisations. The lighting is clear and bright showing the scene clearly. The point of view is that of a traveller, alien or robot, who has discovered this futuristic treehouse from roaming the wasteland, as he or she walks along with the roots of the tree and the pools of acidic water.
